Fifteen years ago, I had a dream that sparked a desire in my heart to start a women’s
ministry. I did not understand the meaning of that dream until four days ago. After
many years of questions, praying and waiting, God finally gave me the answer! The
answer came so sweetly and quietly, in comparison to the struggle that I had endured
for so long - I almost missed it.
First, let me tell you about the dream before I continue with details about the ministry
that God has given me. I dreamed I was walking alongside a river at night. As I was
walking, a woman and her two children, a girl and a boy, were running frantically
towards me. I gently reached out my hand and took hold of the mother’s hand and led
her and the children to this big house with a fenced-in yard, where they found a safe
haven. The dream reminded me of Harriett Tubman's mission to save others.
I believed this to be my call to open a home for abused and hurting women and their
children. I did a lot of research, but could never come up with the resources needed
to start the ministry. In addition, I ran into much opposition. Some people thought that
the church should not get involved with such issues.
We just finished a workshop at our church called "House With A View." I designed it to
help families examine and build their house upon the solid rock foundation of Jesus
Christ. The purpose was to bring out some spiritual Windex and clean the windows of
our "house" for a clearer view of what God expects in a godly house, both spiritual
(the body, mind,soul) and natural (the place where we reside and call home).
A few days ago, as I was reflecting on the outcome of the workshop, the Holy Spirit
spoke quietly into my heart that this was the house that I am to have - for now. I
sensed, at that moment, that I did not have to wait for a literal house to materialize to
help women - a teaching ministry would be the tool to help women and their families,
right now!
Then I finally realized...
I look forward to seeing YOU at our next workshop! (This workshop is held a few
times a year).
